I just was curious due to my experience of being here last year so I’m just asking this too see who else feels the same. As a black male student who transferred to UCSC last year from a community college in the Bay Area I enjoyed being on campus but socially there were a few things that I had to learn to navigate around. The biggest thing for me was how in my particular major it mainly contained white people and the other POCs that were there had very whitewashed aura to them this honestly discouraged me from talking to & building relationships with people in my class because I just felt like I was so different from everyone else. This is also what I thought when taking loop or just walking around campus because I was surprised the first time I saw a group of people who look like they just came from thrifting talking about indie music meanwhile. It surprised because although this school is diverse & inclusive the majority is all interested in the same shit idk maybe I’m just too much of n***** for SC
