How to prepare for cse101 with demertzis
Post Body

I’ve seen similar posts on this sub but for tantalo and sesh, any advice of demertzis? I had a friend recommend that I wait a quarter and take it w tantalo in the winter

Demertzis in my opinion is someone who thinks everything he says should be written down in history books. I took him last fall and ended up failing because his material is straight copied from Sesh but taught at a subpar rate.

My personal experience with him is even worse, for his class I was going to LSS twice a week, going to every office hour and section but still was not getting the coding material. I was working for about 5 hours a day, every day in order to try and complete assignments. I had ended up making friends with a TA who put in the extra time to make sure I was going to pass, alas this still didn't work. After a few weeks of his mush mouth lectures, I ended up just attending Sesh's lectures which greatly improved my understanding of 101.

When it came time to discussing my grade since I knew for sure I wasnt going to pass, I went to Demertzis's office hour only to be talked down on for 20 minutes. He asked what my major was but ended up talking down on the game design major, explained to me that this class was important for internships (I had a software internship the summer prior to taking his class), and last but not least asked why I was even taking the class (101 is required for CSGD). He didn't let me explain what I was doing for his class, but said I needed to just work harder. Safe to say I had a good cry session afterwards.

IMO this guy sucks and his teaching is even worse
