if your getting full fafsa might as well not waive the ucship. I waived mine and they revised my aid. I thought I would get to pocket the insurance money if i had my own but nopeee. Basically its free insurance and id guess its a pretty good coverage so might as well keep it

I'm not sure what you mean by aid but financial office defines aid as combination of loans, grants, and scholarships.
In financial aid last year, the amount of scholarships UCI received for me was subtracted in my grants. So it sucked because my loans did not decrease but the free money that I initially had did. My friend had a similar situation but she swears that she complained and was able to do the opposite: reduce loans and keep free money.
What I've learned is that if I want to keep scholarship money without it affecting anything else in my package, I should apply for scholarships that directly award the student the money and not through the university.
