Could not agree more! I hear so many blanket statements that underestimate the value of going to college when really it's all about researching what that college degree will be for you. Yes, there is some truth to that "do what you love and the money will follow" but that doesn't just fall into your lap. You gotta figure out, network, and strategize, among other things. There is work involved in finding a profession that is a balance (or a compromise you're comfortable with) between being "what you love" and "what will afford you a somewhat comfortable life." One of the biggest things I've realized recently is that you'll learn to like what you constantly do. I used to hate math with a passion when I was in elementary but once I was taught by caring teachers with patient and fun pedagogy styles, I was able to retain info and surpass academic goals better than before.
