UCI Elections: Vote or no complaining later on.
Post Body

Update: Undergraduate vote quorum is met.

If only that were true. ;)

Really, though, it's too damn easy to vote to ignore the opportunity to do so. Log in, click buttons, submit. Do it from the toilet if you have to. I'm sure most people do nowadays. Vote for something... anything. Just don't give into the apathy delusion that your vote doesn't matter.

On the ballot:

Elected Official Recall (Paul Merage School of Business Only)

A vote to recall Gevorg “George” Novshadyan over a series of Islamophobic Facebook posts he made public.

Requires 20% eligible voter turnout from the PMSoB and a 66% YES vote.

Continued funding of Student Center via Quarterly Fee (All Grad and Undergrad)

If this referendum is approved, the $47.50 portion of the SC/CCC referendum, which is set to expire in fall 2017, will remain in effect and result in the continuation of the existing fee of $136.50 per student per quarter. This is not a new fee but a continuation of the current SC/CCC fee which will remain in full effect until fall 2032 when a scheduled $24.00 reduction per student per quarter will go into effect.

Starting fall 2018, the fee will increase annually based on California Consumer Price Index (CPI). The CPI will be taken from the California Department of Finance’s calendar year annual average of all urban consumers CPI-U.

Requires a 25% eligible total undergraduate and graduate combined voter turnout and 60% YES vote

Food Pantry Referendum (Undergraduate Only)

The creation of a new $3.00 per quarter fee to fund the operations and expansion of the current campus food pantry and support student food access and security initiatives. This fee will sunset on its 10th year (2025-26, unless the student body reaffirm this fee. This fee can be reaffirmed as early as the 9th year (2024-25) otherwise; this fee will terminate at the end of its 10th year (2025-26).

Requires a 25% eligible total undergraduate combined voter turnout and 60% YES vote

Increase Funding to ASUCI (Undergraduate Only)

Do you approve the increase to the existing ASUCI fee ($18 per student per quarter) starting fall quarter 2016, the quarterly fee will increase $5 each year for the next six years, to support the programming costs of the Associated Students of UC Irvine (ASUCI)?

Food Pantry Referendum (Graduate Only)

The creation of a new $3.00 per quarter fee to fund the operations and expansion of the current campus food pantry and support student food access and security initiatives. This fee will sunset on its 10th year (2025-26, unless the student body reaffirm this fee. This fee can be reaffirmed as early as the 9th year (2024-25) otherwise; this fee will terminate at the end of its 10th year (2025-26).

Requires a 25% eligible total graduate combined voter turnout and 60% YES vote

And then there's the AGS and ASUCI elections. But let's be honest, it's easier to have an opinion about the things described above. So log in, make that opinion known, and know that your vote counted.
