I thought the hating a band because they’re popular died in the 00’s. Since U2’s amazing Sphere show has gone viral so to have a wash of comments disrespecting band and making the ‘I literally can’t remove their album from my library’ comment (which btw you were able to do from the day it dropped).
It’s really hard to not respond but it bothers me people saying ‘who likes this band’ when they’ve sold 175 million albums and still have (adjusted for inflation) the biggest concert tour of all time. Of course, I get they’re nowhere near as culturally relevant as they were in 1987 or 2001, but I just feel if you don’t like something, just move on and live and let live.
The U2 hate is really the first ongoing internet circle jerk that just keeps on going. Nobody ever has a reason they just know it’s what they are supposed to do.
I will say the band and Bono sounded really bad for this first show. It’s sounds very dead in there. They have been known to have dud first tour dates until they get things figured out but they may have a challenge figuring out the venu sound.
Also..you cannot discount have big an impact not having Larry will be.
