What's the real performance differences between regular and runflat tires?

Let's take the same tire, in my case i have P-Zero PZ4 RFT all around, how would they compare against the conventional version of that same tyre?
Are they THAT extra noisy and harsh? Am i losing loads of grip and connection to the road or is it just a small difference to trade in favour of that extra safety?
Mind you I have no problems at all but maybe i'm used to running runflats, I drive a BMW 340i F30 with M Sport Suspension for context.
