Need some help with my colour scheme please!

Hello, I've recently started to paint some of these adorable little munchers. I've never painted anything before apart from a few sad attempts at some lizardmen when I was a lot younger. I'm finding it quite hard to get all the fiddly details right and my skills are questionable at best so I'm not overly worried about these being amazing quality. I was primarily looking for some advice on the colour scheme but any feedback would be great.

I went in to my local GW store and a helpful man ran through some ideas and suggested some paints for me. I do like the way they look but they look a little muted and drab from a distance. In addition I'm not sure if the red is too red if that makes any sense...I think it clashes with the other colours a little. But I was thinking that maybe a highlight of a brighter purple (like genestealer or xerous I guess?) would maybe lighten the little guys up a bit.

So some advice and feedback would be much appreciated! I have no idea what I'm doing... Thanks!

My extensive collection of paints used to paints my gants consists of Daemonette Hide, Slaanesh Grey and Druchii Violet for the skin, Rhinox Hide, Gorthor Brown and Agrax Earthshade for the carapace, Khorne and Wazdakka Reds and Carroburg Crimson for the stabbers and guns and Scar White.
