Post Body

I recently got a Smith-Corona Sterling from around 1963 and I was just typing and there’s a new issue with the carriage. The carriage is seemingly randomly getting stuck (I haven’t noticed any specific areas). The only thing that can move the carriage uninterrupted is the carriage release levers on the left and right of the carriage. I tried turning my machine upside down to inspect it but it seems the issue doesn’t affect the machine when it’s upside down, either that or it’s really that random. I was wondering if there’s any similar issues that are common or if there’s anyone who’s experienced this issue before. I had first thought it was an issue with the space bar but I don’t know if that explains the letter keys, tab key, and carriage lever (I don’t know the name off the top of my head) also not working.
