For starters, I'm 19 & I've been T1 for 5 years now. I've always had trouble getting my BG to a normal range throughout the day. I've been fighting to get an insulin pump for the last 4 years, switched doctors twice for it. T1 burn out is no myth nor joke.
I started using the Beta Bionics iLet insulin pump Thursday 10/24, & so far it has been a life changer. I no longer have to fear eating too much for my insulin to take, or fear a low bc I over shot my correction. I don't think I've ever seen my BG so in range 24/7.
The iLet works with your body, it mostly goes off your weight & learns you BG patterns to give the right amount of insulin with meals corrections throughout the day! So far the highest I've been is 250 when last week I was constantly in the high 300's with an A1C of 10 (Average BG was 344-390 now 94-150).
I was skeptical at first because of a few posts I saw about the iLet being a nightmare for some people. But after trying it for myself, I now realize that you have to give the iLet time to work with your body and also give your body time to actually get used to it. Unfortunately, this process is impossible to make faster then your body can process it. It can take up to a few months for your body to get used to any insulin pump said by Endo
I believe the iLet is best suited for those of us who have given up on trying to make peace with our BG's & and for those of us who are new to T1 all together. I'm proud of myself for not fully giving up on trying & excited to see what my A1C will be like in December!
