It’s tiring to take initiative in college groups
Post Body

I recently went back to college to pursue my dream course. Since I took some time off to get my transfer credentials sorted, I decided to really put my heart and soul to pass the classes I have now. It’s only the third week and I’m already so tired of constantly taking initiative with my course groups. Worse part is, I’m considered as an irregular student, so the people I know in one class won’t be there on the next. The problem lies with my observation an conclusion. Most of my groups so far, I’ve been paired with only guys. The few groups that aren’t, have been absolutely fantastic. The women are responsive and so everyone else feels the need to respond on time and take initiative too. When it comes to the groups full of guys, I somehow always find myself being the one to reach out first, to designate tasks, and even do most of the compiling and submitting. It’s tiring and I don’t want to do this anymore, but I feel like if I don’t message people 3 days before the deadline, then no one will. I just want to pass, but I don’t want behavior like this from my peers to continue. It’s genuinely frustrating :((
