(I wrote this introduction after being unable to write to completion any of the below tirades I had in mind)

This is my unabashed way of showing how confused I am as an Asian woman living in America. How innately suppressed I've been, even though when asked if I've lived a happy life, I'd answer without hesitation, "Absolutely". From inconspicuous micro-aggressions, such as the "model minority" myth, all the way to physical harassment, I've had to swallow my pride and endure prejudiced situations as not to cause trouble. It's in the Asian culture to be unobtrusive and avoidant of conflict, but that does not mean Asians, male or female, should or can be disrespected due to our ethnicity.

Yes, this post is acknowledging the recent Atlanta shootings. No, the tragedies have not been overstated. Not even close.

The personally bewildering aspect of the situation is that I'm unsure how I should even be feeling? The Atlanta shootings are the intersecting culmination of racism, sexualization, and suppression of the Asian Female demographic.

Second try:

• I've been told insinuations that I got my SWE position due to "racial and gender hiring quotas".
• I've had to get off public transit before my destination to avoid racial and sexual harassment.
• I've had to pretend not to hear racial slurs or imitations while feeling ashamed, scared, and embarrassed.
