Advice for birth control to treat possible enometriosis
Post Body

Little bit of background: Had an ovarian cyst at 20 & after a lot of back and fourth arguing with doctors who dismissed it as periods, kidney infection ect had it removed via laparoscopy (keyhole surgery). I was told they had found scar tissue despite never having an operation there, when I asked if it was possibly endometriosis I was dismissed. Fast foward to January last year and my periods were erratic to the point that I had a 20 day period and bled through a heavy pad, my underwear & trousers on a few occassions & have had a lot of pain in the same area as the old cyst, went through two doctors who dismissed all that again as "periods & hormones", third doctor finally listened & I've been off work since November, been sent for an ultrasound & mri scan, a cyst was found that has now dissappeared but they also found a ton of adhesions on my pelvic area & my doctor thinks it's endometriosis.

Now that you're all caught up, my gp has started me on Ridgevidon birth control to try and stop my periods, prevent any further adhesions forming & reduce the pain I'm in. I wasn't happy about being put on hormonal birth control due to a history of females in my family not reacting well to it (suicidal thoughts, depression) & made that clear but she explained that if I were to have a similar reaction then she would take me off it and try a different one.

This is my first time being on any form of birth control as I'm a virgin and made the mistake of googling the name of the pill and seeing all so many articles demanding it be recalled due to serious side effects & some women even killing themselves due to how it affected their mood. Can anyone share their experiences with being on birth control to treat endometriosis?
