Does anyone else get tired of all their interests being male dominated?
Post Body

So, this is a bit whiny I know, but I'm getting tired of everything I like being male-dominated.

I just finished a PhD in engineering and I was the only female getting her PhD in engineering. There were only one or two that we're getting one that would fall under the STEM fields, but that was it.

I work for a company that is predominantly male, and under pays its female engineers, as a study done by one of our VPs two years ago showed. The company refuses to acknowledge that they underpay women and I have watched as three or four different women VPs have been brought into the company and then basically forced out in less than a year, including the one that commissioned the study on female salaries, yet none of the new male VPs have any problems.

I'm into sports, I love football and baseball and do martial arts. I'm so sick and tired of guys that just assume I say that to try to get a guy, never once realizing that I can geek out even harder than they can about the teams that I'm interested in. Even something as innocuous as the fact that I collect stamps is also a male-dominated hobby.

There's other stuff that I'm in too, and all of it is just male-dominated. It never really bothered me before, but especially with all of the stuff related to women's Reproductive Rights going on right now in the US, it's really starting to feel very noticeable that everything I like is run by men...... it really shouldn't matter, but I've read enough articles and biographies to know that having a female voice in the room at or near the top can make a difference to the women that are in the rank-and-file.
