I’m a female high school who has taken the highest available science classes at my high school. Today I went in to the local community college and tried to sign up for a physics course there. I gave the course assistant the form for adding classes. The course assistant, however, took a quick glance at the sheet and began squinting at her computer. “There is no 211 course.” I grew very confused, and the course assistant began to mumble about how “there’s only a 217 course for Psychology.” ... Ah. That’s when I realized that the course assistant didn’t even take the time to properly read my form and assumed, when she saw the “P” that it meant psychology.
But girls can do hard science! I took it in stride and casually reminded her that it was for PHYSICS and not Psychology. Then I paid the course fee in full, right then and there, and walked out of the Admissions building like a badass carrying my new schedule and receipt. Course starts in January and I’ll be the only high school student in that class. Ready to rock it!
