Note that I have started birth control again on July 18 after stopping for almost a month due to the lack of resources to get a refill of my prescription.

The posts I’ve read say that it takes a little while for your period to return to your normal cycle and I was willing to wait it out for however long it took for my body to return to my normal 5 day period. But after having a LONG period and bleeding for 30 days straight I decided to start back the pill on July 18. Initially, I wasn’t able to get a new prescription last month because I was not in the USA at the time, so I told myself I would just take a break, but after using all the pads I brought with me to my internship (3 packs of like 20 Sanitary Napkins) I had enough and decided to go to the pharmacy to transfer my prescription to where I am located and start back my birth control pills.

My two issues are that I’m on the second week of bc pills and even though I don’t have to wear pads anymore, I’m having black/tar colored blood being discharged for the past 5 days, not a lot to wear a pad but enough to discolor my underwear. Is this normal when stopping and restarting birth control. I only took a break from the pill for about a month. Between June 25-July 18.

My other concern is was it normal to have a period last FOR THAT LONG. I’m not sure what the cycle length was. I just know that I bled for 30 DAYS STRAIGHT between June 25 - July 24 at which my blood was red blood. And between July 24 - (Today) July 27 at which it has been black tar colored blood. So this is technically going on about a 30 day period.
