Hi, not really much to this post as the title explains it all. I didn’t know my dad growing up until 13 and even since then we’re not close. I have a nickname, Roo, that my family has always called me since a baby. My Dad has since had a new baby and they decided to call it, you guessed it, Roux. Am I being petty for being a little upset that they stole my name? He’s known about this name but obviously he’s not around much to remember it. I can’t help but feel a little deflated cause it’s just another example of how he doesn’t even acknowledge me.
You're NTA for sure.
Your dad's way of getting over everything kinda sucks, but I'm not sure if there is anything you can do about it. It's understandable to feel like that, but your dad most likely just doesn't get it.
