Changes in sequels that feel like a direct response to criticisms of the previous entry
Post Body

I was playing God of War Ragnarok, and something that stood out to me in particular was the significant lack of Troll bosses on the main story path. In the previous game, there were quite a few Trolls as bosses. And even though they could have different powers, come in a pair, or have an altered moveset, the abundance of them and their relative similarity to each other was a common complaint.

Ragnarok, by comparison, seems to be making a point of not putting any trolls on the main path. The very first troll we see is at the end of a disastrous mine-train ride, and Kratos immediately kills it after the train crashes into it. After that, you only seem to see Trolls that have been frozen into sleep, or otherwise very much off the beaten path, to the point that you will only fight a Troll if you seek one out specifically.

This is one recent example of a change in a sequel (or special edition) of a game, show, or whatever, that seems to be very pointedly addressing specific and popular complaints about the previous one. Sometimes they even get so obvious as to have people in the story say "not doing this again" or something similar.

Any examples you particularly remember, or like, of this kind of change, where it feels like the writers are saying "satisfied now?"

It did have animals but they were very limited and rarely encountered. IIRC there were only 7 different animals.
