Tried to do my due diligence in searching before posting, but someone correct me if I missed this in a previous post!
I'm modding for a growing streamer, and we have been discussing ways to encourage community interaction. One of the ideas is to have a voice chat in Discord for stream viewers to chat. I know on one hand this is going to encourage some viewers to chat with each other and ignore stream chat. However, I feel like getting people talking to each other will bring up subjects that would not come up if they were just in stream chat. Even thought about having a mod hang out if the voice chat gets active to smoothly flow topics into stream chat if the viewers aren't doing that themselves.
What do you guys think? Would this be detrimental to the stream? I don't want to introduce it as a trial and potentially take it away if it backfires, that could cause some viewers grief if they liked the concept. Hoping for some experienced input here. Thanks!
