Hello everyone!
First I'd like to mention that I've tried to stream a bit in the past from my notebook and it didn't went well bc of my specs and internet connection. I kinda know my way around OBS and Twitch but that's it.
Now, after a lot of thinking, I finally decided to dive into this in a more serious way, mainly bc it's something I've been wanting to do for a long time and now I have the resources/time/place to do it. I've been lurking this /r and some other sites looking for tips but 95% of the time is focused on a streaming PC. It's my intention to stream from the PS5 when it comes out (still trying to pre-order one tho), I got myself a nice mic, webcam, and an Elgato 4k60 S (bc I want to record and upload vids in 4k to yt and when technology internet allows it, I'd like to stream in 4k). I'll start diving into StreamLabs for overlays and that sort of things.
Edit: I just noticed that there are many softwares/extensions for overlays and there seems to be a big difference between StreamLabs and StreamElements. Wouldn't mind any advice on this regard too 😅😅
I would like to ask if there is any big difference between streaming from console or from pc? I guess no since I'll be using OBS and viewing the chat on my pc while playing on another screen which is basically every setup out there.
Also, I would like to have some advise regarding the language:
- English: It's not my native language although I have quite a good grasp of it (I live and work in the UK) and would like to force myself to stream in english to "naturalize" the language. But I'm concerned than that may disincentivize new viewers since I'll be speaking with an accent and the dialogue will not be as smooth as possible, but also on the bright side, it has better reach.
- Spanish: Well, is my native language and there's quite a bigger-than-I-thought audience out there. Additionally, there are fewer streamers in spanish and even less streaming PS5 exclusive games (when it comes...)
Regarding the content, I'm not into FPS games at all. I'm more of rpgs/open worlds/fantasy games. Would that make me lose too much audience?
Finally, I have the intention to have a YouTube Channel (And Twitter to complement the social media) as a support for my Twitch Channel. In your experience, is it worth the effort to have a nice YT channel? By worth I mean, does the extra work of having a yt channel with a nicely edited video per month is translated into more viewers in Twitch?
Bonus question: What would you say is, if any, the most appealing visual characteristic when watching a (male) streamer?
Thanks in advance for reading this long ass post, lots of love if you reached (or not) this far <3 <3 <3 !!
