(re-post, I made a mistake and it got deleted, fixed)
Hey guys, how’s it going?
I stream 6 days a week for usually 2-3 hours at a time. I find this is usually fair because I’m doing 6 days a week pretty regularly (missed some days, started later sometimes). Lots of different series, set schedule, different games. And I think I bring pretty good quality for where I’m at (subjective of course). Today I went a little crazy though and just finished a 6 hour and 32 minute cast.
It kind of got me thinking, what do you guys think is a good cast length for a small streamer or even a streamer with some experience, but more is doing it as a hobby?
Obviously a lot of the big streamers, the pros if you will stream for 8-12 hours at a time. When they say they’re going to be doing a short stream it’s usually 2-3 hours. I think that makes sense to me considering is their job. But I see a lot of new steamers trying to hit their same marks. I don’t think it’s a 1 to 1 comparison. Actually I know it’s not.
For me though, while I’d love to have a longer cast I find 2-3 hour to be the sweet spot. I usually can’t physically stream longer than that, I have a physical disability (and I’m fat) and my back gets super sore after 3 hours. And I think I start to trail off with my enthusiasm towards the end of that (streaming is freaking hard, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise).
I could probably get up and stand more during the stream to stretch out if I went longer though. Just take more breaks basically.
One thing I noticed with the longer stream is I pretty much still just had my core audience. I got a couple new people in, a couple follows. But a friend had raided me once he was done. So it’s not like I was attracting more people in there.
Anyways, just some observations I found. Curious to hear what you guys think. If this topics been brought up before my bad. Let’s talk!
