My name is Ella/Ninjabrer, and I am a PhD candidate at Clemson University researching software and game development live streams and their impact on computer science education. More specifically, with this research, I am looking at livestream viewership habits within the software and game development category. This work is part of a larger body of research that I am conducting as part of my dissertation surrounding computer science education and software development communities. I know there are several software and game development streamers that frequent the subreddit and a lot of smaller streamers who may also participate in streams as a viewer, and that's why I am reaching out!
I am in the final stretch of reaching my participant goal, and I'm also really hopeful that the results of my work will be an inspiration for encouraging participation in live streams and maybe motivate others to start streaming themselves. Results should also indicate viewership habits that streamers might be able to use to understand their audience or what viewers are expecting out of watching software and game development livestreams.
This is IRB approved research, all data collected in the Qualtrics survey is anonymous -- I do not ask for any personal information. If you choose to opt-in to the interview, data and interview transcripts will be anonymized.
The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete, a little more a little less depending on how long your answers are! Survey link: https://clemson.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_eA0ef3fM7HMmeCW
Thank yβall for your time, and interest, and I am more than happy to answer questions :)
