Grim growled in frustration. “How much longer are those two going to go at it?”

“For the love of the Seven, boys,” scolded Mika, “it was just a sandwich. Are you really going to ruin your friendship because of a sandwich?”

Red in the face, both Ace and Deuce torted, “Yes!” For the both of them, it wasn’t just a sandwich. Today was a lunch special: egg, cheese and ham sandwich sprinkled with almonds. It was rare that the Night Raven College cafeteria supplied any special items at all, so when the limited edition sandwich arrived that morning, Ace and Deuce fought tooth and nail for the last sandwich available for purchase. The fight for the lunch itself ended in vain when Floyd ended scooping the last piece of sandwich for his own hunger cure. Ever since the sandwich loss, Ace and Deuce would not stop throwing unpleasantries at each other, driving Grim and Mika up the wall.

“I swear, they sound like a married couple,” Grim murmured.

Mika deeply sighed before going into her parental state. “Do you know how ridiculous the both of you sound?” she snapped. “You’re acting like a bunch of children fighting over a toy, and the toy doesn’t even have a point.”

“Well, Ace should know how much I love eggs, so it should’ve been mine to begin with,” Deuce remarked.

“Oh, and I don’t like them, too?” Ace countered. “I needed some flavor in my life, and that sandwich was it, man. It was because of you that I had to eat the dull usuals again.”

“It was because of you that I lost a chance at my favorite lunch!”

“Oh yeah?”

And they were in a verbal war once again.

“Argh! I can’t take this anymore,” Grim shouted. Even when that did nothing to deter them away from arguing, he quickly turned to Mika and shoved his paws to her side. “Mika, where’s the phone?”

“Is now a really good time--”

“Just give me the phone!”

Annoyed, Mika dropped it into Grim’s grasp. He laid it on his lap and tapped around the screen to the camera app. He flipped the phone upward and began to record whatever part of the fight he was able to grab. It was a good minute of content, which surprised Mika that the boys’ vocal chords hadn’t died out yet. Grim switched from the camera to Magicam, and that made Mika’s heart stop.

“You’re not doing what I think you’re doing, are you?“Hey, they asked for it. The only way to stop embarrassing behavior is when everyone else gets to see it, too. Watch this. “Are you sure these guys ain’t married?” If this doesn’t zip their lips, I don’t know what would.” Grim added the video to the profile. “And then, we wait for everyone’s notifications to go off.”

“You’re such a sleeze, Grim.”

“Hey, it’s either we hear this until the evening or we scare them off now. Now that I think about it, since I’m on here, I might as well see how my other pics are doin’.” Grim tapped on the profile icon to be greeted with another set of photos instead. “Huh? What happened to my selfies? Why is all I’m seeing sunsets and pictures of you and Ja--” Grim’s face paled. “Uh oh!”

Mika’s eyebrows arched. “Grim…”

“I posted to your Magicam by mistake.”

“Grim, you idiot! You didn’t bother to check who used the app last?”

“I was focused on getting this arguing to stop, alright? Don’t throw us into this mess?”

“I didn’t have to do squat in order to do that.”

In record timing, Ace’s and Deuce’s notification bells rang from their phones. That tone coming from their respective devices finally got them to stop bashing each other. They each dug into their pockets to pull the phones out. They swiped the Magicam notification. What they found there caused both of their faces to lose color from their lips to their birthmarks. ““Are you sure these guys ain’t married? Hashtag ADEUCE?” ” They immediately turned their glares on at Mika. “You shared this to the entire SCHOOL?” they shouted.

“Don’t you dare look at me,” she hissed, pointing to the cat.

“Hey! The last thing you should be doing is throwing me under the bus!” Grim retorted.

The Heartslabyul boys towered over Grim, causing him to shrink.

“Oh…damn it…”

“Oh, we’re gonna give you something to “damn it” about,” growled Ace.

“Let’s see if Vil’s available to give this little cretin a makeover,” Deuce suggested.

Grim screamed in terror as the boys latched onto him, marching him down the hallway towards the Mirror Hall.

Oh, this was definitely something that Mika had to see. “There’s an old saying, Grim. Don’t stick your foot in a place where it shouldn’t be.”
