Hello 😊 I posted in a recent thread that I'm kind of a fanfic snob, I don't mean to be, but I work with medical and legal documents for a living and it's difficult to turn off the part of my brain that's always looking for spelling mistakes or awkward sentences! So, rather than complain (which I'd never do, I have the utmost admiration for those who use their time and imagination to entertain us and risk criticism for it!) I thought I'd offer my services as a beta reader.

Here's my brief resume/summary of what I hope I can offer as a beta reader:

Firstly, I'm English, so obviously there will be slight spelling differences that are normal for me, but will be unusual for those used to writing in American English. I don't think this would be a major issue, it's simple to change my spell check to American English, or just highlight words for the author to see if they want to use an alternative spelling.

As mentioned previously, I work with medical and legal documents as part of my job as a senior medical advisor, so I've had a lot of practice reading over text and spotting errors or suggesting how things could be reworded to help the reader understand better.

I am a keen reader, literature has always been a passion. I received the highest score in my school for GCSE English Language and Literature, receiving double A* for those exams. At A-Level, I received A grades for both English Literature and Classics.

I can devote a lot of time to a project. I work from home, and only part time, so it will be quite easy for me to cater to an author's needs if something needs to be looked over quickly, and I can work within deadlines happily.

I'm very open minded and as a 36yr old divorcèe, I'm definitely not a prude, so am happy to work with any and all pairings and ratings.

I'm also quite willing to shut up and not offer any opinion whatsoever on your story if that's what you want. You're the artist, not me, I'm happy to be anything from a glorified spellchecker up to an editor and critic, and anything in between!
