Hi all
Apologies if this isn't the right sub for this question. Would it be better in /r/beyondthebump or /r/TTC30? Or crossposted to either of those?
I'm 38 years old, and on the 1st of August gave birth to a gorgeous baby girl by emergency c-section after a failed induction. Although obviously I intend to consult my doctor about how long I should wait before TTC again, I'd be interested in hearing personal experiences from mums who had a fairly short window between a c-section and conceiving baby number two.
Reasons I don't want to wait too long before TTC again:
-I'm 38 years old
-It took 18 months to conceive my little girl
Reasons I can't just throw caution to the winds and start TTC right now:
-First baby delivered by c-section
-Unlikely to be allowed to go to term / go into labour naturally (age, gestational diabetes with #1)
-Strong possibility of a repeat c-section (traumatic, complicated failed induction, so possible elective c-section / not sure whether I'd be allowed to attempt VBAC anyway)
-As above, if I attempted a VBAC, it would be likely to be induced
If any of the above also applied to your situation, all the better!
Other considerations
-I'm breastfeeding, and would like to continue to EBF for at least six months, though I'm happy to pump and bottle-feed
-I won't be using any hormonal contraception between babies
Any other factors I should consider before TTC given the information above?
Many thanks!
