There I said it. And do not say to me "it is a metaphor" and other nonsense.
People are not a product to consume, buy and sell. Every individual is a unique person with unique value. And no I am not gonna speak whatever BS about social media and dating apps or something about modern dating. This is not a new thing at all. Just a more exaggerated one.
That is the problem. Everyone is in a rush to get what they want with little to no regard of the person in front of them. With the slightest whim people are like: "Nope, next". This is especially true with the stories people say in this platform.
And people treating dating as a market is the perfect encapsulation of this. (Unless maybe if you're doing it in a scientific context). And to a significant degree this extends to social situations as well.
Maybe I am a hopeless romantic but I do not care.
Your personal discomfort has no bearing on the fact that a mix of innate (such as having a pleasant voice) or acquired (such as having an interest the people you're interested in share or don't consider repugnant) heavily influence whether your odss are great, middling or abysmal.
Doesn't really matter what label you put on it. It comes down to what you can provide.
