Only posting this here because I got shadow-banned from another sub for arguing against “no such thing as good guys with guns”. Here it is
“Okay, nobody remembers Elisjsha Dicken I guess. Or how about Stephen Willeford? Or how about Joe Myrick. Nick Meli. David George. Caleb Engle. Tracy Bridges and Mikael Gross. Aaron Guyton. Carolyn Gudger. Lee Silverman. Mark Ktytor. And many, many more.
The more people play into the tribalism, partisanship, and black and white extremism on this subject, ON BOTH SIDES, the less progress we will make overall.
Yes, there have been shootings stopped without firearms. Yes, we need to be developing and integrating as many non-lethal solutions as we can. But we can’t just latch onto one of the two popular opinions and villainize every naysayer. And we can’t pretend like legislation alone will stop psychos from committing these atrocities. We border two countries where they can and will still come in, and if tons of fentanyl can make it all the way across the ocean to us without being caught, so will the ghost guns. So DO the ghost guns.
We NEED to fix this, and I know those downvoting me must feel the same because they think I’m on the other side of the issue than them. I understand. It’s infuriating. It’s polarizing. It’s just atrocious. I don’t want innocent bloodshed either. It brings me all of the same pain and grief that it brings you. We need to start humanizing each other more.”
