Cops making you re-enter a freeway from a dead stop, after giving you a ticket for speeding, is more dangerous than you speeding.

Post Body

I got pulled over for speeding a couple years ago on an interstate highway with a 70mph speed limit. Deserved the ticket, I was definitely speeding.

After I get my ticket, the cop just tells me "slow it down," and then leaves. I'm like, how am I going to re-enter this highway from a dead stop safely wth cars doing 70mph ??

I've decided that cops shouldn't be giving speeding tickets on highways unless it is VERY egregious or reckless. Pulling out onto a highway from a stop is WAY more dangerous than someone going 10-15mph over the speed limit. That's why I don't think it's REALLY about safety. And I think this is another point that supports the argument that minor traffic violations are just a revenue scheme by the state.
