So, it's a couple of weeks in now and after lots of research on Smogon and Serebii (I've tried to keep up with what they all are doing) it seems that the majority of the new Pokémon have very few egg moves. Most of the older ones have around 5-10 or so, usually closer to the latter or beyond, but very few of the new Pokémon even have 5.
Added to that is the fact that very few of the new Pokémon even have particualy useful egg moves. Sure, Tyrunt gets the Elemental Fangs and Dragon Dance, Toxic Spikes can go to Dragagle and Greninja, but I'm struggling to think of many more.
A few of the older 'mons have gotten new egg moves, such as Blastoise with Dragon Pulse and Aura Sphere and Play Rough for Absol and the Eeveelutions (notably Flareon and Leafeon), but I'm struggling to think of too many more. (Feel free to correct me on any of this of course.)
This could be due to them being a new generation with new eggs moves coming over time (here's looking at you Gen VII), but the 5th Gen 'mons all started with plenty of egg moves.
People have blamed things like the lack of post-game content on the huge system/graphics/etc shift, is this a viable reason for the lack of egg moves? Surely it wouldn't have taken long to add in another egg move or two per family?
Anyway, that's just how I feel at the mo'.
