Pokemon is a world full of mystery and enchantment, built upon an expansive mythology and themes. However, there is one mystery that Pokemon has seemly avoided for years now. And that is the "Tao Trio" and the Original Dragon. Surprisingly, it may relate to another being from Gen 7- Necrozma.
For a Generation with 2 mainline games and multiple references later, there is not much we truly know historically. All we know was Zekrom and Reshiram were once 1 being but split in two to follow the twin kings, fighting for either truth or ideals. Strange, right? Truth and Ideals? Legendary Pokemon usually has providence over something in the world. It can be Life, Death, Land, Sea, Sky, Space, Time, Day, Night, Past, Future, and Etc. Truth and Ideals seems even more abstract than the others, as you can not definitively define them. Truth is known to be real and factual, until it is proven to be wrong. Ideals can only be dreams, until acted upon and made real. So what is mean to be truth and Ideals?
We only have an idea of the truth. And this exact issue came up when you are introduced to Kyurem, the hidden third dragon. Kyurem was believed to be a dragon that crash into Unova and formed the Giant Chasm from the stars, due to the comet shards and star pieces found in the area. However, a hidden truth was passed down as a myth that Kyurem was a part of Zekrom and Reshiram and required them to be whole, which is proven true with B2W2 as Kyurem was fused with either of the other two.
We are going to have a little detour to discuss why fans call them the Tao Trio for context. Tao, Dao, Taji, the Way, it goes by many names but it the natural order and the supreme principle of the universe. Symbolically, it is composed of 5 parts. First are the dual magatama bead shaped of black and white- Yin and Yang. They represent the duality of all things in nature. Next is Wuji, the circle that contains yin and yang within, representing nothingness and emptiness. And lastly, they overlooked aspect are the small circles of yin and yang, the representation of duality appearing within the maximum of of yin and yang. From this we can see the similarities with the Tao and the Trio. You only have to look at their box art- Zekrom is the Yin borned from the Extreme Yang and Reshiram is the Yang borned from the Extreme Yang. Think it a coincidence that they can revert to stones similar to the smaller circle of yin yang? I THINK NOT! Even their appearance show this duality. Kyurem is the Wuji, the empty shell, cold and devoid of purpose and meaning. Driven to return whole. Becoming enlightened with either yin or yang when absorbing the other dragons.
Balance, Harmony, enlightenment. These are themed prevalent in gen 5. Now that we have all the background will need for right now, let's talk about the Original Dragon, the truth. What if all the stories are true, but not the whole truth. Only the scatter bits eroded away by time.
My theory, my idea, is that the Original Dragon, not Kyurem, crashed down in the Giant Chasm. But wait why is that important? Do you remember what you could find in there... Comet shards and star pieces. Things from outer space. Yes, the Original Dragon is an alien Pokemon from beyond the stars.
This seems to diverge into another topic entirely, but it all makes sense and it all connects together. In pokémon there is only one other dragon that has seemingly the same ability to absorb other counterparts to make itself whole. The funny thing is... It's not even a pokémon. It's an ultra beast. Necrozma. Strings that there's so many similarities between the Alolan Trio and the Unovan trio. Two beings of seemingly dual nature, one being that is a shell able to absorb them. Even Both original or ultimate form are both dragons. But what if there's more.
Necrozma is a psychic type. Now the psychic types are used for two archetypes- espers like Mewtwo and Alakazam, or aliens like deoxys. And there's always been a strange cutscene that seems to correlate with what I just said. The first time we ever see Kyurem fuse with one of the legendary dragons, a weird weird happens. He breaks the ice off what seemed to be his wings, but are revealed to be appendages any fires strange pinkish purple energy. Now Kyurem is an ice dragon, so it makes no sense where does purplish energy comes from. However if we look to psychic types, psychic waves produce this pinkish purple energy in game. And as I said before, with the comet shards, the old stories of Kyurem, the similarities with the Alolan Trio, and the seemingly use of psychic abilities, it gives proof of something otherworldly and extraterrestrial.
It even correlates with the Tao, the supreme way of nature. Space is seen as the highest state of elements- encompassing all things and nothing. It is the greatest. As a dragon that incorporated truth and Ideals, to reach the full enlightenment of the universe, it must be attuned to the universe. Even how Reshiram and Zekrom fly are somewhat alien, with Zekrom using his tail turbine to form an antigravity field to fly and Reshiram releasing flames from her tail to fly like a jet.... or a rocket? Also the name Unova has Nova in the name, like supernova and even the Japanese name can mean source, like the universe. It obvious there something strange with all of these dragons that must come from their origin. Even Kyurem's ice resembles ice forming off a comet. It makes so much sense that a Dragon in Harmony with the universe would have a psychic typing.
The Original Dragon, or what I will dub Satorem (derived from Satori- Awakening, Comprehension, Understanding), would be a Psychic/Dragon type representing harmony of truth and Ideals. How though you bridge reality and concept. Dreams. It was staring us in the face the whole time. In Gen 5 we got a cool feature called Dream Worlds, allowing us to see within our pokémon's dreams. It was a place where imagination was made real, especially taking items from there and bring them back into your game. Afterwards we received dream radar, and now after a decade time, we received a new feature with Pokemon Sleeps. Dreams have always been heavily tied to the themes of Unova. It through dreams that the legendaries follow a hero, it is why Kyurem tries to make itself whole, and the cause of the struggles in the story. It's possible that the original Dragon has the ability to not affect only the material but the metaphysical. It is also possible it was drawn to Unova due to the strong desire and dream of someone. The first king, the father of the twins. This is also a figure we have no knowledge of at all. It is possible that his dream of becoming king brought the dragon to help realize it. However what event can bring a supreme being like Satorem to this man. It is possible that a Pokemon War, possibly the same as the war with AZ, that caused the world to be unbalanced and disharmonic would bring Satorem to our world and it probably planned to destroy the world. If it's with the nature of the legendary dragons as well, since it's explained he would destroy those who would decide to break the balance and harmony of the world.
However, if it was the War of the ultimate weapon that brought it, who changed the mind of Satorem. AZ's younger brother- the one who caused the war. After realizing, awakening, to the horrors he caused, he decided to make amends and restore balance. It was this act that could have calm Satorem and helped this king with his dream of restoring balance and stayed at his side. It is possible that the king awaken to the ability to truly understand pokémon as he became awaken to way of the universe due to being near Satorem, an ability that was passed down through his bloodline to... possibly N. Satorem possibly became attached to the king, even after the king died. When the brother's began to fight each other, Satorem was unable to choose as it cared for both due to their father that it caused itself to split into the twin dragon and the cold, empty shell Kyurem. This would be the true history of Satorem, A dragon meant to destroy the Pokemon world but was pacified by the Unovan king and helped bring balanced to Unova
