So, this grand little story happened about 2 months ago and I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. My mom and I were eating at a restaurant that rhymes with McJonald's. We were at the second last table from the corner, and everything was going swell. Suddenly, this mom who looked to be like 25-28 came over and sat right behind us with her son who couldn't have been more than 10. The kid had a hamburger kids meal, but was telling his mom that he was getting full. The mom told him to keep eating, and when he stopped because he was stuffed, she tried to SHOVE FOOD DOWN HIS THROAT. So, of course, the poor kid threw up at the table. His mother (hereby Debra) yelled at him for not doing it in a trashcan or toilet. Then, Debra said something that really, really irked me. "You've done this before, I don't understand why you can't just make it to a bin or toilet!" This witch was making her son throw up many times - at least twice. I'm not a violent person, friends, but I had to seriously stop myself from screaming at her and/or slapping her. The main reason for my hostility is because Debra was abusing her son, and children cannot be their own voices in that situation, they can't save themselves. The sole reason that I didn't attack this woman was because my own mom was gripping my arm. So, after the kid threw up, Debra cleaned off the table then was complaining about not having anything to clean "your disgusting mess" up with. I'm a huge germaphobe - I carry hand sanitizer on my purse, I have gloves in my purse, and I have antibacterial wipes in my purse too. So, I offered her some wipes. I told her that she cannot use them to wipe the poor kid's face, that they were heavy-duty, kills 99% of all bacteria wipes. Then, I started chatting with the kid and a bit with her. The kid was a good kid, he was pretty smart, and he was really kind. He talked about school with me, how he was doing, toys he was hoping to get for his birthday. Debra was not so nice. She continued to clean her mess up, grumbling quite loudly about how her son was disrespectful and disgusting, huffing around, slamming things. When she was done cleaning the table, she left him ALONE for about 10 minutes. Then, she crankily gave me a "thanks" and pulled her son away while he said goodbye. When they left, I went and told an employee what had happened, and she got stuck with cleaning the floor. I chatted with her, then some more with my mom. Apparently, my mom didn't hear me tell Debra that the wipes were really good antibacterial wipes. The reason I'm telling you this, friends? Debra, as soon as I turned back to finish eating, wiped her son's face with the wipes. We were going to call the police, but we had no way of identifying the woman. No real name, no different markings (tattoos, moles, birth marks) or piercings, no license plate, nothing. So, we didn't call the cops. Honestly, I wish we'd tried. I feel like a horrible person for letting her get away with it. If I could go back in time, I'd get my mom to call the cops and I'd do my best to keep them there until authorities arrived. Somehow, if the kid is reading this, I'm sorry. And if Debra is reading this, you got very lucky that day.
