my Oma has been struggling with stage 4 lung cancer for about a year now, but her doctors have said it’s almost completely gone, but now there is an even bigger issue and it is going to take her life if she doesn’t get both of her legs amputated.

she just recently started dealing with circulation problems in both feet. it progressed very quickly and she now cannot even stand. she has stopped eating, and is depressed, she doesn’t even want to try anymore. her feet are blue and she is developing gangrene, she cannot get other alternative surgeries or take other drugs due to her aneurism a while back as it will mess up her brain. (i think, i’m not a doctor) and blood thinners did nothing.

the doctors have told her it could add a couple of years to her life if she does the amputation but she doesn’t even consider it.

she has made it clear she wants to go thru with assisted suicide, and from what i understand is perfectly legal where she lives. my mom is trying her best to convince her to go thru with the amputation, but she doesn’t want to force her to do anything. if she doesn’t do assisted suicide, she only has a couple months to live (if that) before the gangrene kills her.

i want to respect my Omas wishes, and she does technically have the right to do whatever she feels is the right option, but i feel it’s the depression taking over. she has just given up, and doesn’t even care what happens to her anymore. she used to be so lively. she was playing tennis still, a year ago before all this happened and she’s in her 80s. and i love her so much, i wish she could see that her life has value. i feel horrible that i’m upset, but i just can’t help it. i don’t know what to do.
