My brother(21M) always says how he hates that I’m(24f) “loud” and compares me to the girls who are “nice”. Nice girls, in his definition, are the girls who dress very modest, zero tattoos and remain quiet and are basically submissive. I love speaking my mind! We legit live in a floating rock, why would I remain quiet? I was quiet for most of my life and super self conscious but started becoming the real me when I went to college. I love being me and not being afraid to speak up. He even pointed at some old pictures of me when I was 15 saying I looked nicer there.

I feel offended because he’s basically insulting my personality. He brought up how this past New Year’s Eve at the dinner table I said I’m emo but I was clearly playing around and not sober. I’ve always wanted tattoos but don’t have any. I have black hair but that’s it I just wear crop tops and jeans or shorts. I would like to know what are the best way to handle his remarks about my personality, etc. I honestly think he’s being rude because I never ever compare him to other people. How can I respond to him when he does this again? Is he being rude??
