So I (24f) went to the gym tonight and was there for about 50 minutes. I saw this man (40’sM) arrive and I’ve seen him at the gym before and he always comes up to me for conversation and it hadn’t bothered me much. Last time he couldn’t stop talking and we talked for like more than 20 minutes until I told him I have to keep working out.

Anyways, I’m doing pull ups and mid set he approaches me and says I’m doing great. I get down from the machine to rest and answer him. He then proceeds to get on the machine without my permission/consent and starts doing dips. I was annoyed because wtf, the audacity! He could have at least asked if he could use it real quick. He said he can do 200 anytime. Just like how the other time he said he can bench 900 lbs. So I just make short convo and he finally leaves and I continue doing pull ups then leave to the locker room.

I quickly grab my stuff and exit the locker room. I pass the front desk and then I see him walking behind me, also leaving. The gym is not busy tonight so yeah I automatically mind freeze thinking…. What are the odds he’s leaving at the same time and he’s legit only been here for 10 mins!!!!!! He had just arrived.

So I walk a bit faster and I’m grateful I still have my headphones on, no music tho. I keep walking and I hear him sigh behind me trying to make conversation. I ignore him and reach my car but he attempts conversation again and that’s when see him in my peripheral and turn. He asks if I’m going to work out tomorrow and what parks I recommend for running. I tell him I might leave town for Easter and open my car door. He is behind the trunk of my car but then walks beside it. I give short talk and then he walks off and wishes me a happy Easter.

I was uncomfortable and now will probably avoid going at the same time. It is most likely he did follow me. Unfortunately this has happened before to me but in another city by another random man.
