I feel like dating is an endless cycle of a couple of really good months, and then suddenly getting dumped - and it is making me an apathic person

I guess the title contains basically most of what I want to say, but it's highly depressing. I see a lot of people around me in the same situation. Dating is usually a couple of weeks or months that go very well, and there start being expextations for the future - and then suddenly it's "I'm not ready for a relationship, sorry!"

Which is fine, it's up to them, but it just makes me not care at all about meeting new people. I want a romantic relationship and I feel genuinely alone and depressed, and this just makes me not want to even try.
