Why are the West's most eminent and prominent filmmakers always making stories set in the past or the future? I can't remember I watched a movie from our leading filmmakers that tells a story that could have been set yesterday or last month. I just watched Park Chan Wook's Decision to Leave and it handled the modern world so well, it used technology instead of avoided it.
Ridley Scott's latest is a medieval tale.
Tarantino's latest was set in the 70s I think.
Scorsese's Irishman was set in the past.
PTA'S Licorice Pizza is set in the past.
Honestly, i'm just curious as to why this is.
What do you all think?
