When people have serious neurological illnesses like Alzheimer's and cannot remember things like the death of loved ones, its advised that caretakers 'pretend' that said loved ones are still alive, so as to not upset the person suffering the disease over and over again by the revelation that the loved one is dead.
There is a surprising lack of any substantiative proof that Rebecca is indeed still alive. Given how stressed the subject seems to make Henry when it comes up between him and Wayne, this leads me to two theories- either Wayne and Rebecca had a SEVERE falling out that Rebecca will not forgive him for, or she is dead. Either way, Wayne has no memory of the event.
My personal feeling is that she's deceased- while I admit there's an equal possibility she's estranged from her father, thematically it would be more consistent if she was dead, and would make a tidier conclusion, plot-wise, in addition to it being a stronger 'twist'.
