When someone is exonerated...

Does the investigation continue to find the murderer(s)? Take the OJ case for example. He was found not guilty, but there has never been any further investigating. Why is that?
EDIT: I know OJ did it lol! I know he wasn't exonerated either, it was just an example.
EDIT: i know about double jeopardy, and that is not what I am talking about.
