I know I am behind on this one, but I finally just watched a Wilderness of Error. I know Errol Morris thinks Jeffrey MacDonald is innocent and he is trying to persuade us of that fact, but I did not actually hear any actual evidence that would support that contention. All I am hearing is that Helena Stoeckley may have been there, but at the same time there is plentiful evidence and testimony that she was unreliable due to drug use. Meanwhile, the physical evidence is extremely damning. The more you dig into the physical evidence, the more damning it becomes. For me the big issue is the fact that there was NO blood in the living room and the daughter’s blood was found in the parents’ bedroom. It just doesn’t line up with an intruder theory. Especially if the intruders were high - they would not have been with it enough to clean the scene that well.
Maybe I am missing something, but I am just not seeing any evidence that his story is true. That said, I think the jury should have been allowed to hear evidence of what Helena said, all those extra witnesses shouldn’t have been excluded. They should have been given the opportunity to weigh all of the facts.
