Is asking a student to stop praying during class a violation of the 1st Amendment?
Post Body

I had a discussion with a Facebook friend today who believed she was wrongly told to stop praying during her classes. She said that she prayed before tests and teachers would ask her to stop and students would tease her.
She compared it to cussing in the classroom and said that teachers were more tolerant of that than they were of prayer.

While I respect her religious views, I agree with the teachers to ask her to stop. Her comparison to cussing is bad - for a teacher, they are both disruptive, distracting, and inappropriate for a public classroom setting.

She claims that these both are freedom of speech issues and it would violate separation of church and state if she is asked to stop.

Does her argument hold any water and am I in the wrong?
