What is going on in the minds of those lying to prove that covid is a hoax?

These four guys tried to make it look like hospitals were empty of patients showing there was no pandemic. Why would they do that?
I can understand those that believe in a hoax. Humans have a problem with that sort of thing. But those that know it isn't a hoax trying to prove that it is are a bit mysterious. What the fuck is the thought process behind that?
It would be especially nice to hear answers from people who have done something like this.
