So just got my first truck with this acc system installed. Any time someone comes within 3 second of me and is going slower the truck brakes. If your on a slick road this could be a issue. Is there a way to disable temporarily or a something? In 15 years I've had maybe 5 times this would've been an issue, but I don't want to get in that situation with a truck that thinks it knows best.
A good example of what I'm worried about happened to me a few years ago. The roads were clear, temp was in the 20s but a patch of ice formed due to runoff. The truck in front of me hit their brakes and turned completely sideways across the road. I got through it because they caught traction right before I hit them and went into the ditch. With this new truck I would've had no control over the situation because the truck would've decided for me.
The system for the most part isn't bad (just annoying), but there should be a way to turn it off in certain situations. Over the years I've seen stuff turn bad instantly. Like rain in 20 degrees that turned instantly to ice on the road with little warning. With this system you're basically screwed if there isn't a way to bypass it. It's not something I'm normally worried about, but with the current weather it's a bit concerning.
