Bunk bed design is silly

Why don't they put beds side by side and storage where top bunk is? I cant imagine anyone older or bigger using the top bunk. The top bunk is unsafe, every team driver I know shares the bottom bunk while one is driving and only uses top bunk when parked.. So why not redesign the layout by putting 2 beds on the bottom on the sides and utilize the top bunk area for storage/refrigerator/etc?

I found a pic on Google that somewhat shows the design I'm thinking of. It might be from an RV but still, you get the idea.
