I think it's time to join the family business.
Post Body
Most everyone in my family has been in the trucking or transportation industry. And I've always sworn I wouldn't do it. I've seen the physical toll it takes on people. I've seen the mental toll as well.
I've lately been thinking it's a viable career path for me though. I've lost a bit of weight recently, I've done a lot of self reflection. I'm near the best I've been in a long time physically and mentally. I currently work for fedex express, who offers paid cdl training. So it's an option with current employment. Or do I quit and pay for my cdl myself and try to get on with a company with no experience.
As far as the driving portion. I've had a bit of experience in trucks. Maneuvering etc. ( I used to jockey trailers in huge packed lease yard regularly) and have actually done some online stuff regarding E logs and HOS laws.
I guess I'm looking for insight or advice on how to go about getting into the industry.
