I've been driving for over a decade and never gave my feet much consideration. I was just buying some cheaper Timberland boots and not even realizing how bad they make my feet feel. Unloading trailers piece by piece, pulling pallets of water (sometimes up a grade) and occasionally working in the warehouse on a concrete floor.
The boots and shoes I wear now generally break down quickly and the comfort is way less than ideal. I've even noticed I'll occasionally develop a short term nerve problem in my toes from my cheap boots.
I started doing some research on hiking/hunting boots and recently got a pair of Danner Pronghorn for the outdoors. They were pricey but I couldn't believe the quality. Far and away the best pair of boots I've ever owned. Plus they look good, which matters to me for some reason even though I'm not a fashionable guy at all.
That's led me to look at their work boot offerings and I'm currently looking into their Quarry line. I don't need a safety toe but slip resistant is nice to have since detergent, shampoo and soap will occasionally leak onto my trailer floor.
Lots of guys will probably recommend Red Wings. I've looked at them a little bit and could probably be talked into getting a pair.
I'm curious what other guys in a similar job think of driving in an 8" boot and what their experiences are.
Thanks for any input.
