Mason supply winter work?

Got offered a trucking job hauling mason supply local with a moffet in the back I live in nj area when i asked him about winter time he paused and said past couple years guys were busy enough to get their 40 dint sound too secure or convincing . Was he just trying to talk it up so he can use me for the summer he was even willing to pay more then the add stated as long as i start asap I told him I want to give my 2 weeks and meet him but dude sounded like he wanted answer that I could start next day
