Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good?
Post Body

I am a lapsed horn player. Spent 9 years playing baritone/euphonium/trombone/trumpet. This was 20 years ago. I wasn’t great but I was “dedicated”. Play lots of other instruments—bass, guitar, ukulele, banjo. I want to find something to jam and play around with and a valve trombone seems like it fits the bill. Cost is an issue.

Here’s the question: are the crappy $180 India-made Amazon instruments so bad that they can’t be made serviceable or could someone make them work for amateur goof around playing by someone with a modicum of ability.

I don’t want to spend more than $200 and I don’t want to wait for a deal to come around.

Additive edit: a slide bone would be nice but I’ve dislocated my shoulder from cycling accidents and the grinding sound isn’t that much fun to listen to, much less trying to reach 7th position.
