Here's a Valve Trombone (this one happens to be a Yamaha YSL-354V) which looks alot like a Big Trumpet & I got that picture from the Yamaha Website:https://usa.yamaha.com/products/musical\_instruments/winds/trombones/ysl-354v\_354vc/index.html. Historically, the world Trombone in Italian translated to "Big Trumpet" because it resembles the Trumpet that was used at the time. A Valve Trombone resembles a Modern Day Trumpet made in a bigger version that's twice the size & pitched an Octave down. The nice thing is that it's the same fingerings as Trumpet but it's an Octave lower. Each of the 7 slide positions on a Slide Trombone has a matching Valve Combination on Trumpet, Tuba, Flugelhorn, Baritone Horn, Euphonium, French Horn, & even Valve Trombone.
