OK so before I get into it, I have been watching alot of the interactions within the subreddit and I've noticed that many of you in here are very open minded, which is why I am posting. I need advice from people who are within my community. So I am a 32 year old female and a lesbian. That's right I am a lesbian. My experiences in Trinidad have not been pleasant, but it's usually towards those that I know who choose to be open about their sexuality. I am not open about it, only my parents and siblings know and they are OK with it, it did take them a while, but now they are very accepting of me and love me regardless. I feel alone, while I know there are persons who are the same as me I cannot fit in. I tried going to local meet ups of Lgbtq and allies but I did not feel welcome. I had one person tell me its because I don't " look gay" and its the reason why I can't find a partner, a relationship or friends . The advice I want is for those within the subreddit who are part of the Lgbtq and allies on how to go about navigating Trinidad as someone who is somewhat "semi out" I am tired of being on my own. So are there welcoming spaces where I can go?
