Anyone familiar with the TOS movies knows that Capt Kirk just loves to flaunt regulation and take the ship out at 1/4 impulse speed. Now, here's my problem:
If we assume that the information we have from canon and non-canon sources is true and full impulse on a starship is pegged at .25c, and that power factors are directly related to speed, making 1/4 impulse equal to 1/4 of .25c, or .0625c. This makes 1/4 impulse equal to around 18 MILLION METERS PER SECOND. So, ya, we can make up technobabble for how a self sealing stem bolt works, but not figure out we've got the ship flying out of spacedock at about 42 million MPH. 🤦
